Dining

Tours start in Tamworth, home to the first summer stock theater company and the Tamworth Inn. On your first full day, you will ride north to The 1785 Inn with its signature dining room overlooking Mount Washington. The 1785 Inn's recipes have been featured in Bon Appetit that claimed "for haute cuisine at high altitude, try The 1785 Inn." Here, participants are treated to a four-course meal including soup, salad, a choice of entrees from a specially prepared menu and a sumptuous dessert. While menus vary weekly, those dining at The 1785 might expect to start their meal with the soup du jour, followed by a salad featuring greens grown on the property from the inn's three-acre garden. Entrée choices might include Sherried Rabbit, Shrimp Grand Marnier, Seared Scallops or Veal and Lobster in a light Buerre Blanc sauce. The dessert course might feature such delectable choices as the inn's original Coffee Buttercrunch Pie or Raspberry Napoleon.

On your second full day of cycling, you will ride to Snowvillage Inn where cyclists earn their dinner climbing the final hill to this destination inn positioned for ideal views of the mountains. Recommended by Bon Appetit, Better Homes and Gardens and featured on the Food Network, Snowvillage's menu features New England Regional Cuisine using the freshest ingredients possible and local products when they are available. Each dish is prepared to showcase the flavor and quality of the ingredients. Menus change daily, however on any given night, participants might start with Le Puy Lentil and Roma Tomato Bisque and Insalata Tusto Gusto and then sample entrées such as Pan Seared Maine Diver Harvested Scallops or Tuscan Grilled Pork Porterhouse. The night will be topped off with a choice of specialty desserts that might include Tiramisu or Fruits of the Forest Tarte with Créme Freche.

The final day's ride brings you back to your starting point in Tamworth. The Tamworth Inn's three distinctly different dining rooms including the Pub with its collection of vintage sleds and patio overlooking the pool, the porch overlooking the Swift River and the beautifully restored yellow barn. Here, while menus change regularly, dinner might start with a cup of creamy home made Clam Chowder or Tamworth's own Spring Rolls, followed by a Caesar salad and entrees that vary from Pan-Fried Rainbow Trout Meuniere with Lobster Chive Risotto to Apple Wood Smoked Pork Chop accented with Brandied Honey Cream. The final course will be the highlight of the evening as participants choose from a wide variety of desserts.
